Karangasem is a regency in the east of Bali, Indonesia. It’s known for its rich culture, beautiful landscapes, and historical sites like the Pura Lempuyang Luhur temple and telaga waja rafting, snorkeling.
Karangasem Regency has an area bordering the sea and the mountains with the peak being Mount Agung. Thus, the height varies from 0-3,142 m above sea level and most of the Karangasem area has an altitude between 100-500 m above sea level and 500-1000 m above sea level.
This means that part of the area is hilly to mountainous. The plain area only covers 13.4% of the area, that is, it is only spread over coastal or coastal areas.
Geologically, Karangasem Regency consists of Quaternary, Lower Quaternary and Myosin formations. Quaternary formations cover most of the district. Quaternary formations with sandy tufa lithology and lava deposition are found on the north coast, namely in the Tianyar area. The lithology is in the form of lava, sand, bomb-directed lapilli, dark brown to black in color. It is distributed in the Mount Agung, Selat, Muncan, along the Tukad Buhu and Tukad Bangka streams
